What is YouthBuild?
YouthBuild is a full-time construction training and education program. Trainees are paid for 9 months of construction work that is equal to $7.50 per hour with the possibility of bonuses for various accomplishments through the program. Trainees also must attend educational classes to complete his or her high school diploma or GED.
At the end of the training program, graduates are assisted with placement in construction-related jobs or apprenticeships, or in continuing their education.
Applicant Information
To Apply, you must be:
- Between the ages of 16 and 24 years old
- Unemployed and out of school with no high school diploma or GED
- Interested in learning construction
- Interested in further education
- Serious and Committed
Additional information
- Orientation lasts 2 weeks. The orientation is unpaid.
- Perfect attendance for the 2 week orientation is required for admittance to the program.
- Assistance with local transportation will be provided.
- Length of the training program is 9 months (not including orientation).
- Bonuses are available for perfect attendance.
Schedule
Each crew alternates schedules with a week in the classroom and a week on the construction site, and then the two crews switch locations. Payday is every two weeks. Lunch is 30 minutes and there are two 15 minute breaks.
